If you happen to be walking around Fell's Point on a cool summer's
evening and are in the mood for a cool treat, or have just finished
dinner at one of Little Italy's fine bistro's, but can't decide
on a dessert, be sure and head over to Cafe di Roma. Here you
will find some of the best homemade Gelato anywhere, including
Italy.
The Gelato is made fresh daily and is a low fat, but creamy and
delicious treat that can't be beat. The flavors available include
an assortment made with fresh fruits such as peaches, mangos,
rasberries and others. Also you will find a great assortment
of the traditional Italian varieties to satisfy your cravings.
You can even buy some to take home in special insulated styrofoam
containers, although if you happen to be carrying a spoon along,
you probably won't make it home with a full container anyway.
In addition to the fabulous Gelato, Cafe di Roma also boasts
a delectable assortment of Italian Patries made by their own
pastry chef.
For lunch or a light dinner, a selection of Panini sandwhiches
are available. Either way, be sure and save room for some Gelato.
The Cafe also serves up a good coffee house selection of Espresso,
Cappuccino and other beveages.
The only thing better than the Gelato that you will find at Cafe
di Roma, is the service. The people working behind the counter
are friendly, perky, polite and extremely helpful, even taking
the time to cheerfully answer our questions about how Gelato
is made and how to pronounce some of the names of the various
Italian delights in the display case.
Cafe di Roma is about the best place you can go for Gelato, this
side of the Atlantic. Give them a try, and you'll surely be hooked
like we are.
