| The Little Italy Restaurant Association (L.I.R.A.) is a marketing cooperative comprised of the owners of the renowned restaurants of Baltimore's Famous Little Italy. Since LIRA's inception in the 1970's, our members have dedicated their efforts to promoting and strengthening the image and vitality of this Baltimore landmark community. LIRA-sponsored events like the annual Little Italy Open-Air Film festival have become part of Baltimores rich cultural tradition and have attracted international media exposure. Many of our owner-operators are not only restaurateurs, but also residents of The Neighborhood Celebrate La Dolce Vita in Baltimor's Little Italy! |
L.I.R.A. was formed in the 70‘s by Frank Velleggia, Vince Culotta and Buddy Chiapparelli. These pioneers and owners of Velleggia’s, Sabatino’s and Chiapparelli’s saw the need for unity among the restaurants. They believed that by forming L.I.R.A., a united voice would be more beneficial to the welfare and success of the “The Neighborhood.” Many years have passed and L.I.R.A. is now bigger, better and stronger than ever. |
